FTC Red Flag Rules Due To Kick In
Jul 21st, 2008 | By Dawn Rivers Baker | Category: PodcastsFirst things first: I apologize for the hiccups in the sound in this week’s podcast. I’m thinking it’s time to spring for that new CPU and additional RAM. My computer is getting tired and I’ve been tough on the old gal.
Since you took the trouble of coming here to visit, how about if I return the favor and give you that list of suggested red flags from the FTC right here.
The FTC promised compliance guidance but I haven’t seen any — unless you’re in the mood to wade your way all the way through the Federal Register notice (but I wouldn’t recommend it). If you think you fall under the category of a “creditor”, you may want to direct your compliance questions to the FTC directly, at RedFlags@ftc.gov.
Don’t forget, you have until November 1st. I also wouldn’t recommend putting it off.
From what we learned from this week’s story on research released by the Office of Advocacy earlier this month, if your community is one of those whose citizens are mobilizing to keep a Wal-Mart out, combine that with a serious Buy Local campaign. All of the above will keep the small stores in good competitive condition against any larger retailers that come their way.
