Lawmakers Eye Small Biz, Credit, and Financial Reform

Sep 28th, 2009 | By Dawn Rivers Baker | Category: Podcasts

It’s silly, really, but I feel like I want to do the happy dance because this week’s microbusiness news does not include a story about health care reform.

Yes, fans! In spite of the way it seemed for awhile there, our nation’s leaders are capable of chewing gum and walking at the same time!

I don’t know about you but that gives me a lot more faith in said national leadership.

So, this week, we’ve got an opening salvo on the Consumer Financial Protection Act out of the House Financial Services Committee. The Small Business Committee held a hearing on it last week; Financial Services will hold their own hearing this week. If possible, I will cover that second hearing as well. I suspect there may be much there that will impact even microbusinesses.

There’s also an update on the SBA reauthorization bills — to the tune The Song That Never Ends — and research into the effectiveness of entrepreneurial education.
